Los Angeles homeowners have access to the most generous stack of green building incentives in the country. Federal IRA credits, LADWP programs, and California state rebates can together cover 30–50% of your eco-upgrade project cost.
Incentive Stacking Note
Many of these incentives can be combined ("stacked") on a single project. For example, a solar + heat pump + insulation project can claim IRA 25D (solar), IRA 25C (heat pump + insulation), LADWP Solar Incentive, and TECH Clean California - all in the same tax year. We map the optimal credit strategy for your specific project during the free consultation.
The most valuable residential energy incentive ever enacted. On a $20,000 solar-plus-battery system, you receive a $6,000 dollar-for-dollar reduction in your federal income tax - not a deduction, a credit. The 30% rate is locked through 2032, steps down to 26% in 2033, then 22% in 2034.
IRS Fact SheetUp to $3,200 per year in tax credits covering: Heat pumps ($2,000 max), insulation/air sealing ($1,200 max), windows ($600 max), exterior doors ($500 max), home energy audits ($150 max). Credits reset each tax year - so strategic phasing lets you claim the maximum over multiple years.
IRS Fact SheetTECH Clean California stacks on top of IRA 25C for heat pump installations. Income-qualified households (≤80% Area Median Income) receive enhanced rebates covering 75–100% of heat pump installation cost. Market-rate households receive $1,000–$3,000 depending on system type.
TECH Clean CAThe Los Angeles Department of Water and Power operates its own solar incentive program separate from SCE's CSI. Rebate rates change quarterly based on program capacity - we check current rates and file the pre-approval application before we start your installation to lock in the incentive.
LADWP Solar ProgramLADWP pays up to $100 per qualifying high-efficiency toilet (HET) replacement, up to 2 per household ($200 total). Additional rebates available for smart irrigation controllers ($80–$200), weather-based drip irrigation ($25/valve), and free WaterSense showerhead exchanges through LADWP's conservation programs.
LADWP ConservationThe City of Los Angeles provides priority plan check service for projects certified under LEED, GreenPoint Rated, or the Living Building Challenge. This can save 4–8 weeks of review time - worth $10,000–$40,000 in reduced carrying costs on large projects. We prepare and submit all green building certification documentation.
