How These Numbers Are Calculated
Cost Estimates
Project costs reflect 2024 LA market averages from our own completed projects and industry benchmarks. Actual costs vary based on your home's size, existing infrastructure, chosen equipment brands, and site conditions. We provide precise estimates after a free site visit.
Annual Savings
Savings estimates use a baseline LADWP rate of $0.26/kWh and are adjusted proportionally by the rate you enter. Solar savings assume 80% of your current usage is offset. HVAC savings assume replacing a 12-year-old system. Actual savings depend on your usage patterns and existing equipment.
IRA Tax Credits
Credits shown reflect the 30% Inflation Reduction Act rates for 2024–2032. Annual caps apply per item per tax year (IRA 25C). We can help structure multi-year project phasing to maximize total credits if caps are a constraint for your project.
CO₂ Offset
CO₂ offset calculations use EPA emission factors for the Western grid (WECC). Solar panels offset ~0.94 lbs CO₂ per kWh based on LA's grid mix. Heat pump offsets account for the difference between electric and gas CO₂ intensity. Embodied carbon of materials is not included in this tool.
